Monsterverse Mecha King Ghidorah 2023

I originally made this model during my senior year of High School, after seeing a really cool version of the "Mecha King Ghidorah" character on Youtube by Hariz Bin Hilmy. As a fan of the Godzilla franchise, combined with his cool take on my favorite character from that franchise, led to me making my own version of MKG. I tried making my version look as different from his as possible, while still retaining some of the features from Hariz's model that I thought looked cool (i.e, split jaw, segmented wing shape, etc.)

I spent all of February to early March of 2023 (both in class and at home) modeling, texturing, rigging, and animating this character using Blender. This was my first attempt at rigging a character, and just 3D animating in general. I basically went into making this blind, with little experience but a big passion and goal to somehow complete the model in some form. I later heavily updated the models' rig, materials, and better organized names of each part in December of 2023 that year. I never expected nor intended this model to work in a game engine at the time as I mainly wanted to use it for some cinematics and animations. To me, the model is still far from perfect, but I want to better optimize it in the future once I have a better understanding of things like texturing, n-gons, keeping a low-poly count, etc.

I submitted an early version of one of my animations of this character for the FTC 2023 Luminaries at Five Towns College's 13th Annual Film & Arts Festival, of which the animation won two awards for "Best 3D Animation" and "Best Overall Animation."

Regardless, I am still quite proud of how well this project has done, and how it has turned out.
